Bass Drum Exercises Bass drum independence refers to the ability to play bass drum rhythms that are separate from the pattern(s) performed by the rest of your limbs. Much like the snare drum independence exercises, I recommend that beginners focus on just two voices on the drum set (bass drum and hi-hat) before adding the third (snare drum). Hey r/bass,
So I have been approaching my 13th year of playing bass and I want to advance my wankery flashy playing for my metal band and personal skill growth.
The style of sweep tapping I am talking about is the Billy Sheehan sweep down the strings tap a high note and sweep back down. Many other bass Players like beyond Creations Dominick Lopontie. I can't find a practical progression to go through that will help me develop proper right hand and left hand behavior.
So experienced bassists that do this how did you learn and please spare me the 'practice and slow metronome work' answer. I'm looking for a good lesson plan for myself to work through. Here are some video examples
Edit: my statement had been misunderstood. I Said 'spare me the Practice and metronome speech' cause once you are a good player you do metronome and slow build up practice anyway. To rephrase my question, what right hand and left hand exercises do you do to work on bass sweep tapping? What easier arpeggio sweeps did you start with and what Advance licks did you work up to? What was you skill progression map like?
